More and more we all live on our own islands. Everyone lives and takes care of themselves first and foremost. We assume that others will also manage themselves. In fact, 'the other' is a threat to your own safe existence. On our islands, we are all doing our very best to survive and prosper. We search, balance and keep ourselves afloat.
But what if that is no longer possible? When do you dare to ask for help and are you able to accept it? Are you willing to help someone else? When does competition turn into connection? What do these choices say about yourself and how can we emerge stronger together from this polarizing society? 'FALL' is a surprising performance in which the dancers have to make choices between helping each other or looking after your own skin. We are balancing on the edge of our familiar existence.
Leiden collective DansBlok won the VKZ Spoffin OFF Award last year with their duet FRAME. The dancers won a cash prize, a two-week residency and a performance space during Spoffin 2024. During this residency in the Eemhuis, the collective investigates the phenomenon of self-interest versus solidarity. With this they elaborate on the theme 'the power of vulnerability' of their latest theater performance BALLEN LOS. 'FALL' is the result of this residency.
