Festival Spoffin 2021- Arnhemse Meisjes

Being a woman. It has been the subject of heated debate more than once. Torn between stereotypes of mother, virgin or whore on the one hand, and the free-spirited, independent feminist on the other. The starting point is an abandoned woman. From loneliness and buried under all conditioned layers and imposed expectations, in search of its hiding power.

'Verlaten Vrouwen' (Left Women) is an accessible dance performance for public space, created and danced by five female dancers from the contemporary dance collective Arnhemse Meisjes. Driven by the guitar of musician Wout Kemkens, they dance and explore all corners and manifestations of the spectrum of 'being a woman': from strength to vulnerability and back again. From the many clichés they go into depth in a playful and light-hearted way and take you on a recognizable quest for what it is like to be a woman in 2020.
