Spoffin 2024: this is the complete program!

 01-07-2024

The countdown has now really begun: Spoffin 2024 will be back at the end of August! From August 23 to 25, Spoffin will turn the city center of Amersfoort upside down for the fourteenth time. With 27 circus, dance, street theater and music productions, including no fewer than eleven Dutch and two world premieres, it promises to be a special fourteenth edition of Spoffin. Almost all performances are freely accessible, you decide what you pay afterwards.

When asked about highlights in the festival programme, Alfred Konijnenbelt, artistic director of the festival, says: 'There are many this year, both large and small. For example, the widely acclaimed performance EXIT by Circumstances from Belgium or the intriguing installation Panorama Kino Theater by Tom Greder from Switzerland. And smaller surprises from Fabuloka (NL), DeRonde/Deroo (NL) and Cia Pau Palaus (ES), among others.

Also from our own country is the new performance FALL by DansBlok, which won the VKZ Spoffin OFF Award last year and thus a residency at Scholen in de Kunst. The winner of 2022, Wonderground from Spain, also returns with the brand new production Wall & Peace. This means that Spoffin will have two world premieres this year.' This year, the public can once again vote for the best act in the OFF program, with which they can win € 2,500, made available by main sponsor Adviesbureau VKZ.

There are three other residencies, including Circus Amersfoort, with special attention to the Baltic States: Accompany ME (LT/IT), Art for Rainy Days (LV/LT) and Kanta Company (LT/FI). In this way, Spoffin makes an important contribution to the creation of new work for outdoor festivals.

Premieres

In addition, the festival offers many performances that have not previously been seen in the Netherlands: in addition to the aforementioned residencies, there are also premieres by Adrian Kaye (IT), Big Wolf Company (EE), Cia. Emiliano Alessi (ES), Iara Gueller (BE), Jūratė Širvytė-Rukštelė (LT) & Adrian Schvarzstein (ES), La Mecànica (ES), Richard Arhinful (TW and Vytautas Laibinis & Aurimas Jungatis (LT).

This year, Spoffin is collaborating with, among others, Theater De Lieve Vrouw for the special location performance Remember Ons by Gouden Haas, with the Family Festival in Vathorst that presents two Spoffin teasers on Friday, August 23, and with Lepeltje Lepeltje where two festival acts can be seen. Also the collaboration with Komt het Zien! To be continued, so that some performances are made accessible to the blind and partially sighted. Newcomers work together with their buddies as volunteers through the Amersfoort Buddy to Buddy network.

Complete program

But Spoffin 2024 brings much more beautiful circus, dance, street and location theater to Amersfoort. The complete program can now be found on Spoffin's website, app and social media. This year, Spoffin will take place from August 23 to 25 at various locations in and around the city center of Amersfoort.
