Spoffin, the festival for street and location theater that takes place on August 27, 28 and 29 at various intimate locations in the city center of Amersfoort, has announced the program for 2021. With more than 25 acts for all ages, it promises to be a special eleventh edition!

We had to skip a year but this year Spoffin is back with an extensive program full of special acts. This year with special attention for acts from our own country! Artistic director Alfred Konijnenbelt is proud that he can put a lot of Dutch artists in the spotlight this year. “Every year we have a focus country or region, such as Great Britain and Ireland in 2019 and Catalonia in 2017. We had previously decided to create a Dutch focus program for once. And that happened to be very convenient, because due to all the corona restrictions, we can invite very few international artists this year. So in 2021 Spoffin will be almost 100% Dutch!”

Vertical dance
With the Netherlands as this years’ focus country, a varied program with more than twenty acts has been put together this year. One of the most spectacular of these is Sky-Motion, which Amersfoort was already introduced to during King's Day 2019. "The showpiece of that day could not be missed, so the Sky-Motion company once again ascends the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren for a spectacular vertical dance performance”, says Konijnenbelt. "Dance is undergoing strong development in the Dutch street theatre, so we get to see the latest productions by, among others, Arnhemse Meisjes, MAN||CO, Clou Dance Company and the Flemish-Dutch company Piet Van Dycke."

For all ages
For all ages there is something to discover during the eleventh edition of Spoffin, because the children have also been thought of. The festival always has many family performances, but this year a number of children's performances are concentrated on the Appelmarkt and two other locations. “Our own Amersfoort’s pride, Lejo, plays there and Theater Tique's latest production will also premiere. Furthermore, the Dutch-Tunisian actor Yalla Yalla will celebrate his birthday with the children and there is an insane children's race with tricycles that go faster if you scream louder.”

Complete program
But Spoffin 2021 will bring much more beautiful music, dance, street and location theater to Amersfoort. The complete program can now be found on the Spoffin website. Spoffin will take place this year from 27 to 29 August at various locations in the city center of Amersfoort. Due to the corona restrictions, small and medium-sized performances have been chosen this year for a limited audience, spread over intimate locations in the city center that offer sufficient space and where we can regulate the influx of audiences.
